95 Points. Outstanding
Excellent colour with purples and reds leading to a bouquet of concentration and floral complexity. Aromas and flavours of fresh and baked raspberry, earth smoke of gravelly sandy soils then barrel spices and a nettle-bracken dried herb quality. Dry and rather delicious on the palate with a salty red fruited core of flavours. An abundance of fine tannins add mouthfeel and style while the acidity drives the freshness of the fruit flavours throughout the palate. Best drinking from 2026 through 2032+.

“…this Reserve Syrah is incredible. This is the only wine that could sneak into a world collection of elite Syrahs and swan around the room, nodding at its peers with the utmost self-confidence and perhaps even a little swagger. It is darker and more toothsome than the Serine cuvée, and while it is a little richer and more intense, and the oak seems a little more opulent, it is sensationally well-balanced and stunningly refreshing.”

"…ethereal, bony, fine, bloody and mineral, both are infused with a profusion of crushed rocks, tapenade and black tea… This gentle handling has given the wine an effortless, magnificent aspect. Where the prior wine is almost austere in its expression, this is fleshier and more complex, more of the grape and the earth than the maker. I like this so much; it’s mid-weight at very best, floral and long. Although a tremendously drinkable wine now, it’s also one that will cellar…"

Certified organic, the 2022 vintage (4.5*) was estate-grown in Mere Road, hand-picked, and matured for 17 months in French oak barrels. Deep, bright ruby, with a fresh, floral, spicy bouquet, it is medium-to-full-bodied, with strong, vibrant, plum and black pepper flavours, showing good complexity, and fine-grained tannins. An elegant, very youthful and ageworthy red, it's well worth cellaring to mid-2025+.
